Accused!

Well, here I sit in front of my screen accused of misleading all you good people. Naturally, all my family and friends have been reading these pieces and they all give me feedback. They’re all supposed to say encouraging things, but one friend-of-a-friend (someone I barely know) has asked a pointed question or two.

The cheek of the woman!

Only joking. :)

In the best tradition of P.G. Wodehouse and his nodders (the group of junior executives who sit around a Hollywood boardroom table and simply nod enthusiastically every time the Mogul dispenses wisdom), none of my friends have said anything to disturb my airy confidence.

Weight loss“, say I. “It’s a breeze!”

I’m grateful to this friend-of-a-friend (whoever she is).

Apparently, she also takes phentermine so she’s been reading my pieces with an expert eye. She points out that I’m misleading you, the readers. And not just about one thing — about several things. So let’s take her comments in order.

Like me, she is surprised I should be taking phentermine when I so boldly announced my thyroid problems. Well, I have an explanation for this apparently reckless behaviour. About thirty years ago, I was really hyper, carried off to hospital where they prodded me and did all the tests except the one that would tell them what was actually wrong with me. I don’t think I have ever given more in the cause of medical research than during that week. But that was then. Thirty years older, I join the ranks of the over sixties whose thyroid function has been slowing down with age. It happens to all of us. You never know, I’ll probably end up hypo at some point. So, I’m actually in the normal range right now and it’s safe for me to be taking phentermine.

Then she pounces on the following phrase from the instructions supplied with phentermine, “It is best to take phentermine on an empty stomach before breakfast, or at least 10 to 14 hours before bedtime.” Ah ha! says she. I have told you all that I take my pill with my evening meal. This cannot be right. I should warn you all that this is not recommended.

She’s absolutely right. I shouldn’t really be doing this but I have a reason other than the one I gave you. I said I did it just before I ate my big meal of the day to remind myself not to eat too much. And that’s right as far as it goes. But, I’m also a night owl. I married a lark. Poor dear. He’s always at his best at the crack of dawn. I’m at my best after midnight. I suppose that’s why we get on so well. Most of the time, we never see each other. So, we share our “evening” meal around six. For me, this is lunch. I usually get up around eleven and have a piece of toast. So that’s almost me on an empty stomach and I’m not often in bed before four in the morning, giving me my ten hours before sleeping. And, just to make the point. I’ve never had any problems sleeping while taking phentermine, so I’m not going to change now.

But my friend-of-a-friend is absolutely right. You shouldn’t follow my example unless your body rhythms are similar to mine. And even then, you should monitor how your body reacts. The shorter the time between taking phentermine and trying to go to sleep, the more likely it is that you’ll have difficulty in going to sleep.

And finally, she says I shouldn’t be mixing my phentermine with Acomplia. Well, that’s a slight exaggeration, but she’s right to ask the question.

I’m actually a washout right now. :)

I don’t take them at the same time. I allow two weeks between the two to get all of one out of my system before I start the other. It works in a two month cycle. Six weeks on, two weeks off. That’s the reason why I haven’t added Meridia into the equation. I know it’s had a clean bill of health, but it’s just too complicated for me to break the current routine.

So there you have it. Not exactly an accusation in the Zola traditions of Dreyfus, but my friend-of-a-friend was sharp as a needle. And that prompts me to follow her example. I am me — weak and prone to ramble on without explaining myself. What works for me, won’t necessarily work for you. You have to stay in control of your own health and make sure you are safe. Don’t unthinkingly copy what I do! Phentermine and Acomplia are powerful friends. Make sure they stay that way to you.
