So there I was in the supermarket. I’m getting on a bit in years so it’s become a bit of a struggle to bend those knees to get down to the bottom shelves. Do you remember how it used to be? Just one dip of the knees, flexible waist, an arm that always seemed long enough to reach to the back of the shelf. I never used to think about it. See it. Want it. Pick it up. That was me.
But as I’ve got older, the weight has come as well. Well, to be honest, it’s not just the age. I’ve got a bit of a health problem that means I can put weight on anyway. So with tired knees and the extra weight, bending over to pick anything up has become a struggle.
Anyway, so there I was in the supermarket and I could see just what I wanted on the bottom shelf. Why is it that supermarkets never put what you want on the middle shelves? If I was paranoid, I would think those shelf stackers were out to embarrass people like me.
So I was trying the bend down far enough to reach that desirable pack when I heard a gaggle of young skinny things not supressing their mirth at the sight of my red face and rear end up in the air. Well, what can you do when you have no dignity left? I asked one of them to get the pack for me and, to her credit, she did.
But it made me really start to think about how other people see me. It was the straw moment when my camel’s back was not at its best. All my excuses for not doing something were broken. So I began to do my homework on how to lose weight and read all I could about phentermine, Acomplia and Meridia. Well, phentermine and Meridia looked out for me straight away because I’ve got one or two problems with my thyroid. I’ll tell you about them when I get to know you better. Acomplia seemed the best bet. But when when I went to see the doctor, he pointed out that the problem is with overactive thyroid, not my underactive variety. So, although he said we might have to be a bit cautious and “see how it goes” — he was all into me keeping a diary so I could write down how I felt every day — he was prepared to let me try. “But only,” he could never say anything without conditions, “if you do something about your diet as well.”
Which only goes to show that, yes, you have to be read those websites carefully and be very cautious when you see something that might not be for you, but there is no substitute for talking with someone who actually knows. Which is why I’ve been gently experimenting with both phentermine and Acomplia for the last year or so.
I’ve also changed my diet round a little and, to my surprise, I’ve started to walk more as exercise. If you’d told me a couple of years ago that I’d be striding around the city (well, striding is a bit of an exaggeration but I’m not as slow as I was when I started), you’d have found me knocked down with a feather. It never did take much to knock me down.
So I’m going to be sharing my own experiences with you, hoping we can all shed those pounds and get back to full health again.
Hope to see you here again. Drop me a comment if you want me to talk about anything in particular.
